Drought continues for the west

The state of California is currently in its fourth consecutive year of drought and there is little hope in sight.  In the last week temperatures have averaged about 10° above average with little precipitation.  Current snow pack in the state is at a measly 5% of its average and is dwindling.  66% of the state of California is considered to be in and extreme drought with 41% in an exceptional drought.  Nevada isn’t looking great either with almost 48% of the state in an extreme drought and 18% in an exceptional drought.  With both states combined almost 40 million people are affected by drought. There are many rivers and lakes drying up across the western states and many areas have water restrictions.  Even with rain in the forecast, it would likely do little to improve the state’s dire drought prospects.
