Dover man accused of fleeing from Officers and swallowing drugs

Police say during a drug investigation, someone that they were looking to talk to fled, resulting in their arrest.
Dover Police say on Wednesday, Officers with the City of Dover Police Department Safe Streets Unit tried to speak with 39-year-old Joevon Russ, at the Whiteoak Condos Development on Whiteoak Road, as part of an on-going drug investigation.
According to the report, once the Dover man saw the Officers, he fled on foot, but was quickly apprehended. Police say during the arrest, Russ damaged the mirror of a vehicle parked in the complex, and swallowed what appeared to be suspected crack cocaine. Police say they tried to get the suspected drugs from his mouth, but didn’t manage to do so.
Russ was then taken to Bay Health Hospital in Dover, for a medical evaluation, where he was treated, and released with no injuries. Russ was then charged with resisting arrest, criminal mischief, and tampering with physical evidence. He was released on a $1,500 secured bond.
