Delaware woman reportedly tries to flood holding cell, after DUI arrest

A Delaware woman, who was arrested on a drunk driving charge, is now facing additional offenses, after she reportedly tried to flood her holding cell.

The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office says on Sunday, around 2:15 AM, a Deputy pulled over a vehicle on Salisbury Boulevard near Northwood Drive, for an expired temporary registration plate. The Deputy reportedly smelled alcohol on the driver, 26-year-old Milan Palmiro, of Laurel, Delaware, and apparently found other things that indicated that she was under the influence.

Palmiro reportedly participated in sobriety testing which authorities say she did extremely poorly in, leading to her arrest.

While Palmiro was being processed, the Sheriff’s Office says she was belligerent and uncooperative with the deputy, and once inside the holding cell, she was seen ripping up toilet paper, spitting on the glass window of the cell door. Investigators say that she also attempted to flood the cell by filling the toiled up with toilet paper. Palmiro also apparently refused to submit to a breath test, when the Deputy asked.

Officials say Palmiro’s actions led to an additional charge of malicious destruction of property, along with the driving under the influence of alcohol one from the traffic stop.

Eventually, after an initial appearance with the District Court Commissioner, Palmire was released on her personal recognizance.
