Crumpton toddler dead after drowning in local pond

A Queen Anne’s County family is grieving, after their toddler reportedly drowned on Monday evening.
The Office of the Sheriff for Queen Anne’s County says just after 8:30 PM, the father of a Crumpton family was cleaning up dinner, while the mother left to go to a store. According to the report, the father checked on the children, and noticed their 2-year-old was missing.
He reportedly contacted the mother to see if she had the child, but she didn’t. Investigators say the father, along with neighbors, then started searching around the Matthew Drive home.
Soon after, the father apparently found the toddler in a pond about 50-100 feet from the house, and jumped in. Officials say 911 was called, and CPR was started on the child before emergency crews arrived.
The toddler was then rushed to Chester River Medical Center in Chestertown, where efforts to revive the child reportedly continued for several hours, before the little boy was pronounced dead.
