Colonel Softball Holds Off Saints Late

The Saint Michaels High School softball team hosted Colonel Richardson on Wednesday afternoon, but fell short in a late-game comeback, 11-9. The Colonels improve to 9-4 for the season, while the Saints slip to 2-7.
Saint Michaels jumped out to an early 3-0 lead over Colonel Richardson, but didn’t hold on to it for too long, seeing a four-run third inning by the Colonels give them the lead they wouldn’t surrender.
The runs would keep piling on in the next inning, pushing in three more for a 7-3 advantage. But the Saints wouldn’t go away, getting back in it late. Cutting the deficit, Saint Michaels would come up just short to drop the home contest, 11-9.
The Colonels stay on the road, taking on North Dorchester on Thursday at 4 p.m., while the Saints travel to Kent County on Friday at 4 p.m.
