Colonel Remains Perfect With 8-0 Shutout of Easton

The Colonel Richardson High School baseball team cruised past Easton Tuesday afternoon in a Bayside North matchup, 8-0, to remain untouched this season with a 17-0 record. The Warriors slip to 8-7 with the loss.
With just a 1-0 lead in the 5th, the bats started heating up for the Colonels, crossing four runners across home plate to put the game away. Derek Scheuler brought across the first run off a stand-up double before Caleb Johnson sent home two more with a single up the middle to center field.
Jake Zebron scored the last run dropping a bloop single into center field.
Easton slowed down the Colonel offense in the sixth, leaving two runners stranded and holding the score at 5-0, but the Colonels would tack on three more runs in the seventh to seal it up.
Johnson pitched a complete game for Colonel Richardson, registering 11 strikeouts and just five hits. He moves to 6-0 for the season. Connor Garvey paced the offense with a 3-for-4 effort at the plate for two RBIs and a walk.
The Colonels travel back home to face Cambridge in hopes to finish the regular season undefeated, while Easton heads to Saint Michaels. Both games are set to begin at 4 p.m., on Thursday.
