Cambridge-SD Softball Holds On To Win Over Colonel Richardson

Cambridge-South Dorchester hosted Colonel Richardson on Thursday afternoon and this game turned into a late battle between these two teams.

The Colonels took a 2-0 lead over the Vikings after one, but Cambridge-SD would not stay quiet for long. Following an RBI triple off Kaylie Seabrease’s bat and another RBI single from Allison Hayton – the Vikings tie the game up at two.

Karley Lewis comes up to put her team back in the drivers seat with an RBI single to take the 3-2 lead over the Colonels. The Vikings had a huge third inning – scoring six runs – to take the monster lead, 9-2. Cambridge-SD’s Lewis and Seabrease tally another couple of RBI’s helping the Vikings take an 11-2 lead in the fourth.

However, the tables would turn as the Colonels buckled down on defense and their bats started heating up. A couple of RBI’s by Gabby Galante, Morgan Willoughby, and Jayna Turner help cut the lead to 11-5. The Colonels were not done swinging those bats – Galante with another RBI in the sixth inning cuts the lead 11-6.

Despite the Vikings scoring a run in the bottom of the sixth – Colonel turns things around and scores 4 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning with the tying run in scoring position. Things were in the hands of Paige Bleyer and she would get the final out to end the game.

Cambridge-SD takes this one over Colonel Richardson, 12-10 the final.
