Bennett Softball Takes Down Parkside In Extra Innings
The rivalry between Parkside and Bennett is one that needs no explanation – this sweet rivalry between the two high school is what made this a feel-good win for the Clippers.
Parkside would take the early lead 1-0 and pitcher,m Maggie Cannon, was not making it any easier on throwing fire. Bennett’s Kasey Donalds was holding her own striking out Rams batters left and right. 5th inning rolls around and the Clippers would tie things up after Brynn Roman hits a bouncer into left field.
After a couple of scoreless innings – the game would head into extra innings. As high school softball extra inning policy – a runner starts on second base. Casey Ross owned the bases – then Emma Chandler hits one into the hands of Parkside’s pitcher – Maggie Cannon – she threw home looking to get the out, but Ross recognized the play. Ross got herself in a pickle, but her smart base-running skills allowed her to slide in home to get the go ahead run.
The Clippers would rally and score another two runs in the eighth inning to secure the fate and seal the victory over the Rams. Bennett’s Kasey Donalds struck out the side in the 8th inning to help her time win, 4-1.
