Atkinson named new Blades mayor

After six terms, Blades mayor Michael Smith will soon handing over his reign.

Robert Atkinson was elected as the town’s new mayor on Monday.

Atkinson was up against John Reiss and David Ruff and won with a total of 53 votes.

Mayor Smith says he’s pleased with the results of this race and is looking forward to what Atkinson will do as mayor.

“I think it’s good that we have fresh blood.” Says Smith. “I think it’s good that we had three good candidates running this year and It’s been an honor and a privilege to serve the town of Blades.”

Atkinson will be sworn into his seat on April 13 at the town meeting in Blades.
