2015 Salisbury Kidney Walk participant shares story of survival

In less than two weeks folks will converge on Winterplace Park for the annual Salisbury Kidney Walk.
An event special to man, but this year, it’s an especially big step for one Ocean City man.
Michael Flynn has been battling diabetes for several years, losing his leg and half of his other foot due to complications.
About seven years ago, his kidneys began to fail. Unfortunately his sister was not a match for donation.
After missing out on three possible transplants, he was finally able to get a new kidney this past August.
Flynn says the National Kidney Foundation has been a major help in regaining his health, and because of that he can’t wait to participate in the walk. He says for those who can’t be there for the big day, you can still find a way to support.
Flynn says, “Those of us who are walking, it’s a great help that we do, but the ones who are really helping are the ones who are donating and helping this organization.”
The Salisbury Kidney Walk will be held Sunday, May 3rd. Check in starts at 9 a.m. 47 ABC’s very own Meteorologist Daniel Johnson will be emceeing the walk.
