WiHi Downs Cobras To Advance To State Semis

The Maryland State Boy’s Basketball Quarterfinals took place on Monday night, as Wicomico High School traveled to northern Maryland for a faceoff against Harford Tech. The Indians kept it close all game, but pulled out a 70-58 victory over the Cobras to advance to the state semifinals held at the XFINITY Center in College Park this weekend.

Trailing at the half, 28-24, WiHi needed to put together a stronger second half, which is exactly what they did, putting up 23 points and holding Harford Tech to just 15 to open up the score. Indians’ Torrey Brittingham helped put the game away in the fourth quarter, finishing the night with 23 points.

Lionel Batson put together a well-rounded night with eight points, 14 rebounds and two blocks.

Being named regional champions, the Indians now move on to the semifinals on March 13 at 9 p.m., against Patterson High School, who defeated Randallstown, 59-50.
