UPDATE: Death investigation ruled as homicide

Delaware State Police have ruled the death of a man as a homicide, after he was found shot to death inside of a car in Magnolia.

Troopers say they were called to the unit block of Grays Lane in the Meadowbrook Acres development around 11:20 p.m. Friday for reported shots fired. When they arrived, police say they found Dover man Richard Jacobs, 44, in the driver’s seat of a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds.

Jacobs was pronounced dead on the scene.

Investigators say his body was removed from the scene by the Division of Forensic Science, where autopsy was conducted.

47 ABC spoke to a Mikayla Reedy, a neighbor who says she says she heard the gunshots Friday night.

“I was laying in bed and I heard a couple gun shots.” says Reedy. “I’m kind of nervous about bringing the kids and stuff out now because you never know what’s going to go down.”

Very few details have been released at this time; however, anyone with information is urged to contact authorities. Information can given by calling Detective William Porter at 302-531-5892.
