UMES’ women pull away from DSU
The UMES women’s basketball team moved above .500 in the MEAC (11-15, 8-7) and completed a regular season sweep of Delaware State, pulling out a 68-61 win on the road in Memorial Hall.
UMES was led by guard Jessica Long, who scored a team-high 18 points, while dishing out 3 assists. Forward Mariah McCoy contributed 16 points off the bench, shooting 6-10 from the field, including 4-6 from behind-the-arc. UMES’ bench outscored DSU 24-2, and led the second chance points battle 16-6. Alexis Udoji was the other Hawk in double figures, posting 10 points, while pulling down 7 rebounds. Amber Bogard led Del State with a game-high 27 points.
DSU will face Hampton in its final home game of the season on Monday night at 5:30, while UMES takes on Morgan State this Thursday, March 5th at the William P. Hytche Center, game-time is set for 5:30.
