Three arrested with untaxed cigarettes and fake credit cards during Salisbury traffic stop

Three men were arrested on Tuesday, after law enforcement in Wicomico County found untaxed cigarettes and fake credit cards in their trunk.

The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office says on Tuesday, just before 3:00 PM, a Deputy stopped a vehicle on Route 13 for a traffic violation, and found that none of the three occupants were listed on the vehicle’s rental agreement. A WCSO Drug K9 team responded to the scene, and reportedly alerted to the presence of illegal drugs inside the vehicle.

A search of the vehicle apparently revealed marijuana paraphernalia, both in the car, and in the sock of 24-year-old Marc Louis, of New York. Deputies also apparently found 130 cartons of cigarettes in the trunk that were being transported through the state, without paying the required Maryland tax. The Sheriff’s Office says there were also 135 fraudulent credit cards in the vehicle.

The three occupants, Louis, along with 25-year-old Markins Noelus, 25-year-old Markinston Noelus, both of Tennessee, were then arrested for bringing the cigarettes, presumably on their way to New York with them. They were each charged with transportation of untaxed cigarettes, unlawful possession of untaxed cigarettes.

The investigation into the credit cards is reportedly on-going. The Sheriff’s Office says the Maryland Comptroller’s Office and Homeland Security assisted with this investigation.
