SU Women Advance To NCAA Second Round
The Salisbury women’s basketball team is at home hosting the first round of the NCAA Playoffs taking on Bridgewater State – a team with a 16-10 record.
The Salisbury women came out a little slow on the ball and seemed to have a tough time generating offense. Anna Hackett led the Gulls at halftime with 9 points and Sarah Seipp followed with 6. Meanwhile, Megan Boutilette led her team with 17 points and 7 rebounds. The SU ladies only grabbing 9 total rebounds throughout the entire first half. The Gulls trailed at halftime 35-23, but they came out with fire in the second half.
The crowd brought a lot of energy to the game and helped the players get back into the game. The Gulls were down by 15 points, but managed to make a second half comeback with less than ten minutes remaining in the game. Hackett (21) and Seipp (18) had big second half’s and helped get their team back in the game. The Gulls played solid on defense – taking away the lanes and forcing Bridewater to shoot around the perimeter.
The Gulls get the win 66-63 advancing to 26-2 on the season and head to the second round of the NCAA tournament tomorrow against Stockton.
