been a tough start to the year for the s-u women’s lacrosse team. things just haven’t gone their way.. couple tough games, but they got two all-americans out with injuries, lost another all-conference player for the year… so it’s been a tough going for them. the sea gulls returned to the field this afternoon looking to win their second straight when they took on brockport state. s-u would grab the early lead in this one. beautiful look here to megan wallenhorst and she puts that one home in the first half to give her team the lead. they would hold onto that lead too thanks to the play of keeper gianna falcone the freshman was getting it done between the pipes. named conference defensive player of teh week yesterday and backed it up with a career high 12 saves in this one. still, teh eagles hung around in this one. the goal here int eh second half would tie this thing up at 3-3 with 25 minutes to go. it also woke up the gulls. hannah young puts that one home to give her team a 5-3 lead. then a few minutes later, another one here from gabbi nieves. su wins, 9-3 “i think we realized that our offense needed to get going. we needed to score some goals, like we had been on the defensive end a lot and we realized that if we want this win, we have to defend our home turf, and we had to get the goals in.” and clear your calendars, cause tomorrow’s basyside all-star games will be one’s you won’t want to miss. it’ll be the last time we will see some of the top seniors from this years class hit the hardwood representing their schools. and what a class it was. the south alone will be highlighted by players like wi-hi’s nelson brown and pocomokes dajour mills and raymir smith parkside sends dajour diggs and colen gaynor, as well as bennetts michael jean-charles big names coming from the north as well. colonel richardson’s david dickerson will be there, as well as eastons tayvon emory and queen anne’s brendan cavaunah. girls play first, with off set at 5;30 the ncaa tournament is set to get started tonight with the 2 play in games… kicking off three weeks of the greatest college hoops of the year. so think you know a little something about basketball? well it’s time to find out! the 47abc sports team is taking on all challengers in a bracket challege this year. all you got to do is fill out your bracket on espn and add it the 47abc sports group. now there is a limit of one bracket per person, but the winner will get annouced on air at the end… as well as we will keep you update on how our sports team is doing. now the group closes tomorrow when the first game starts, so you only got 24 hours left to make a bracket. and now it is time for your play of the day. for this one we head over the heat and cavs game last night and check out timofey mozgov. big fella coming down the lane and throws that one down for the huge and one finish. heat would have the last laugh though, as they would end up winning this one. that’s it for sports. good news is just ahead- keep it right here — you’re watching 47 abc – delmarva’s trusted source
