Somerset County Health Department launches “Unmask Addiction”

Wednesday, the Somerset County Health Department launched its own prevention program to fight heroin addiction and overdose deaths.
The program is called “Unmask Addiction.” It provides resources on treatment options, drug take back boxes to dispose of unused and expired medications, and training opportunities for responding to narcotic drug overdoses.
We’re told the name “Unmask Addiction” was chosen to encourage people to stop thinking of heroin as a drug abused by people on the streets of poor areas.
Craig Stofko with the Somerset County Health Department says, “These people that are overdosing and dying from heroin and opiates are doctors kids, senators kids, it’s not just an inner city urban problem. It’s not just poor people, it’s all socioeconomic statuses.”
The Somerset County Health Department says anyone is welcome to take part in the unmask addiction program. Click here to access the heath department’s website.
