Shark Tournament decides to call it a wrap

First the Dew Tour, and now the Ocean City Shark Tournament.

Ocean City will be losing another one of it’s big summer events.

One of the tournaments long-time organizers tells 47 ABC that a number of factors played into the decision to end a 34 year tradition, including consecutive years of bad weather, tournament officials deciding to go in different professional directions, and a change in the fishing.

A statement posted on the Tournament’s facebook page by organizers earlier today said,
“Over the past 34 years, we have worked to develop an event that would be fun, exciting, and educational for both competitors and spectators. The goal was to provide an environment where shark anglers could compete for substantial prize money with responsible fishing practices.”

Comment’s from the event’s supporters on that Facebook post expressed plenty of gratitude as well as disappointment.
