Salisbury City Council moves forward with adult entertainment, over-occupancy ordinances

Salisbury City Council made the decision to move forward with two ordinances on Monday.
Mayor Jim Ireton says council members are continuing with an Adult Entertainment Ordinance, which would move the businesses away from churches and residents.
According to the measure, business owners would have two years to comply by either reducing their stock of adult material or moving out of the city.
In addition, Mayor Ireton says council passed an “over-occupancy” ordinance.
The ordinance would suspend a landlord’s unit registration and/or rental license for violating occupancy codes. The suspension would range from three months for a first offense, to a full year for a third offense.
