Salisbury city council may nix primary elections

The next time there is a city council election in Salisbury, it could be a little different than in the past.

In Monday’s council meeting, members will vote on whether to get rid of the primary election. Councilwoman Laura Mitchell says because their election is non-partisan, it would make the process much simpler.

She says it could also save the city an estimated $40,000.

The proposed change comes after last year’s decision to change the city’s two election districts to five.
