Pocomoke Upsets Mardela In The Regional Semi-Finals

The Mardela Warriors were at home Wednesday night hosting the Pocomoke Warriors in girls basketball for the regional semi-finals. Both teams have battled it out this year, but Mardela has been the team to walk away with the victories prior to tonight’s game.

On Monday night, Mardela’s Demyra Selby scored her 1,000th point as a Warrior and tonight, she was awarded the ball for this incredible accomplishment. Taylor Ross also had a tremendous game against Snow Hill scoring 37 points and tonight she knocked down another 29 points against Pocomoke.

Mardela came out strong despite some of their shots not falling, but they managed to hold onto the lead for most of the game. Pocomoke fought their way back into the game with Dynashia Christian scoring 29 points and taking in 21 rebounds. It was a very odd game because of fouls – Mardela had at least 4 players foul out in regulation. It would be the Pocomoke Warriors who came out on top in tonight’s game, 70-64, and they will advance to the regional finals.
