Plow crash shuts down intersection

The Delaware Department of Transportation confirms a snow plow caused a brief shutdown of the intersection of Route 100 and Route 141 in Greenville Sunday.
DelDOT’s Community Relations Officer Jim Westhoff says a plow with its bed raised snagged some low-hanging electrical wires while southbound on Route 100 around 3:30 today. Officials say the incident knocked the traffic signal off line at the intersection, and the removal of the wires cut power to about 40 nearby Delaware & Light customers. At the time of the release, Westhoff said power was expected to be restored to customers by Sunday evening.
DelDOT says the plow operator was uninjured. The result of the incident brought down wires and poles from each side of Route 100, and clearing and restoring the equipment should be done by Monday morning, meaning Route 141 is likely to remain closed during tomorrow’s morning rush hour.
DelDOT says a detour around the scene has been created in preparation for traffic.
