PARCC testing no complaints in Dorchester County

The new standardized testing currently happening in Maryland schools has some local parents upset about the format of the test and also whether students have the right to opt out. But in Dorchester County, it appears to be smooth sailing.

According to school district officials, so far, no students or parents have come forward with any complaints. All principals and superintendents of Dorchester County met today to discuss and debrief the PARCC test and there were no major issues brought up.

Superintendent of Dorchester County Schools Dr. Henry Wagner tells 47 ABC that the parents and schools are on good terms and aren’t afraid to speak up if and when they have an issue.

Dr. Wagner tells 47 ABC, “There were no opt out requests, we were very happy to hear that the students were cooperative, the parents were supportive. Our parents are not shy about telling us when they’re dissatisfied and when they have concerns.”

Doctor Wagner says newsletters about the PARCC tests have been sent out to to parents in the past. He believes that smooth and proactive efforts have been the reason there haven’t been any issues. He also says if parents do have concerns they should not hesitate to bring them forward.
