One arrested on handgun charges after reportedly fleeing from Police in Dover

Police in Dover have reportedly taken another illegal gun off the streets, and put the suspect behind bars.

Dover Police say on Friday morning just after 4:30 AM, Officers with their Drugs, Vice, and Organized Crime Unit tried to speak with 27-year-old Thomas Clark, on North Governors Avenue, when he fled. According the report, Clark led Officers on a long foot pursuit, during which he dropped a handgun along his path.

Police say after catching up with Clark, and arresting him, they searched the area that he had run, and recovered the Glock 9mm handgun, which was loaded with 13 rounds of ammunition and had an obliterated serial number.

Clark was charged with possession of firearm with altered/obliterated serial number, possession of deadly weapon by person prohibited due to a previous felony conviction, and resisting arrest. He was arraigned, and ordered to be held at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on $10,500 cash bond.
