No new charter schools to be added in Del.

No new charter schools will be approved in the First State for the time being, according Delaware Governor Jack Markell.
In Dover on Thursday, Governor Markell said there will be a statewide review of public schools to determine what needs are still going unmet.
The review is a recommendation from the Wilmington Education Advisory Committee (WEAC), which is a group he established last year.
“My philosophy is, charter schools can be a good part of the mix but we need to make sure they’re good and our neighboring schools are good as well.” Says Governor Markell.
Markell said he expects the review will take the rest of this year. That means no new charters will open in the 2016-2017 school year.
