Maryland police officer indicted after alleged assault

A police officer in Maryland has been indicted on assault charges after prosecutors say he held a gun to the head of a man who hadn’t committed a crime.
Police and prosecutors say a grand jury indicted Prince George’s County Officer Jenchesky Santiago on Friday. The charges include first-degree assault and misconduct in office.
He is now is suspended without pay.
Prosecutors say Santiago told two men in front of a Bowie home in May that they were parked illegally when they weren’t. The driver explained that he was dropping off his cousin. When his cousin tried to go inside, prosecutors say Santiago put his gun to the man’s head.
Prosecutors say Santiago threatened the men, saying, “We’re PGPD, we shoot people.”
Much of it was captured on cellphone video.
