Local merchants look to “revitalize” downtown Chincoteague

Revitalizing Downtown and getting visitors to enjoy more than the beaches and ponies.

It’s the idea behind Chincoteague’s Main Street Merchants Associations 2015 lineup of events.

Tomorrow (March 14th), the association kicks off a series of events with their “In Search of the Shamrocks” event.

Visitors, throughout the year, can take part in everything from festivals to art contests.

47 ABC spoke to a member of the association says the area has much to offer year-round.

“We’re always looking for ways to bring the public back to see us in our off-season because everybody knows about the beach and the ponies during the summer. So we want them to get to know all of the downtown merchants that help support the community year round.” Said Laurie Walton.
