Local man celebrates 100th birthday

Salisbury resident James Polk turned 100- years- old Saturday March, 14th. Polk has been a resident of the lower eastern shore since the World War Two Era.
Polk was very active in academia throughout his career, he taught at many institutions including the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
Polk was surrounded by dozens of friends and family members at his birthday party Saturday.
Marsha Polk, Polk’s daughter says, “In 100 years you live through an awful lot of different things. He’s been a great leader, mentor, and coach. I see a future building on all he’s accomplished.”
The Polk family tells 47ABC longevity is in their genes. James Polk’s mother lived to be one- hundred and four.
