Lane closures on Dover Bridge expected to last two weeks

Highway officials in Maryland are hoping by revising lane closures on the Dover Bridge, rush hour will be easier.
Maryland State Highway Administration Officials say they are closing the eastbound lane to alternate traffic on MD 331, for the next two weeks, starting Monday. Flaggers will direct alternating traffic starting at 9:00 AM and running until 5:00 PM.
“We’re hoping the earlier schedule will relieve some of the congestion occurring during the normal rush hours of 7 to 9 a.m.,” said SHA District 2 Engineer Greg Holsey. “We appreciate motorists patience while we construct the new Dover Bridge.”
The lane closures will allow crews to start excavating pier locations, and putting embankments at the east approach to the bridge. Officials say the lane closures could last for an extra week, depending on progress.
There will also be variable message signs, cones and barrels to help get traffic through the work zone. SHA Officials are still reminding drivers to slow down in work zones, and stay alert to conditions.
