Indians too much for Queen Anne’s, on to regional championship
With a 28-22 lead at the half, the Wicomico Indians put their foot on the gas in the second half, defeating Queen Anne’s 62-42 in a packed house at Wicomico High School, Saturday afternoon.
Nelson Brown scored 24 points, and pulled down 12 rebounds, mounting another double double for the Tribe. Forward Trevell Jones scored 16 points and hauled in 10 boards, getting alot of his points off from dimes by point guard Torrey Brittingham, who finished the game 9 points, 10 assists, in addition to 6 rebounds. Brown gave the Lions 11 points in the third quarter alone, and Brittingham’s near triple double gave Queen Anne’s problems all throughout the second half. For Queen Anne’s Brendan Cavannaugh finished with 17 points.
WiHi and head coach Butch Waller advance to another regional title game, last year the Indians fell at home to Patterson Mill. This time around, WiHi will be making the trip to Harford Tech High School to take on the Cobras, who post a 17-7 record. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m. in Bel Air, MD.
