Heavy fire damages Newport home

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s office is investigating a fire that heavily damaged a Newport home.

The Minquas Fire Company responded to the unit block of Harding Avenue near West Newport Pike shortly before 7:30 a.m. Sunday for a report of a house on fire. 

When authorities arrived on the scene, they say the house was engulfed in flames.

Damage is estimated at $75,000.

There were no reported injuries.

State fire investigators say the fire’s origin and cause remain under investigation.
