Fire at Trappe furniture shop ruled accidental

A Trappe business is recovering, after flames ripped through their building on Thursday morning.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office says the fire started around 11:40 AM, in the upholstery workshop of Classic Chair & Sofa Studio, a two story business on Bambury Road.

After the owner discovered the flames, 24 firefighters from Trappe Volunteer Fire Company responded, and had the flames under control in about a half hour.

Investigators have apparently ruled the fire as accidental, caused by electrical. Damages are estimated at $75,000. Officials say what started as a small fire, caused significant damage to the business, and everything inside.
