Federalsburg chicken house fire ruled accidental

A chicken house fire in Dorchester County, has been ruled as accidental.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office says the fire started around 11:50 AM on Wednesday, with an electrical failure in an outlet inside of the 60′ x 560′ operational poultry house on Reliance Road in Federalsburg.

After the owner was alerted by the poultry house monitoring system, 20 firefighters from Eldorado Brookview, Federalsburg, Preston, and Shartown Fire Departments responded, and had the one alarm blaze under control in a half hour.

Damages are estimated at $10,000. There were no injuries reported. The fire has been ruled as accidental.
