DSU Women’s Basketball Fall In MEAC Opener

The Delaware State University women’s basketball team saw their season come to an end Monday in the first round of the MEAC tournament with a 70-45 loss to Norfolk. The Spartans used a big run to end the first half to put the game out of reach.

DSU struggled to find their rhythm offensively to open the game, taking til nearly 4 minutes into the contest before they finally broke through with a score. And while the Hornets were having trouble putting the ball in the bucket, so were the Spartans. Norfolk would grab a 14-10 lead by the 11 minute mark of the first half. But the Spartans would find their groove, finishing the half on a 18-4 run to take a big lead into the locker. From there, the home team continued to push as watched as their lead grew to as many as 37. The Hornets continued to battle but weren’t able to get back into the game. Amber Bogard finished with 18 points and 4 rebounds to lead the Hornets, while Nikkei Blackburn added 7 points and 4 rebounds and N’Kaya Kersey added 9 points.
