Discussion continues over old James M Bennett Middle School in Wicomico County

The discussion over the old James M Bennett Middle School continues in Wicomico County.
According to Wicomico County Council President at Large, John Cannon, in Tuesday’s work session, council members did discuss the future of “phase three,” which had been slated for demolition to allow for athletic fields to be built in its place.
County Executive Bob Culver proposed to remodel the building and turn it into county offices for the Board of Education, but Cannon says they have to look at the contractual agreements first before making that decision.
“If we find out that there are contractual obligations on the part of the county to tear down the old Bennett Middle School, then we feel we have to proceed with that tear down as far as renovating it for Board of Education office space.”
Council members also reportedly discussed setting aside $2 million for West Salisbury Elementary School. Cannon says there are no expenses associated with this, but instead, it is to put aside and build on for either school renovations or replacement costs.
