Del. State Police continue death investigation

State Police continue their investigation into the suspicious death of a man and injured woman found inside a car Sunday morning.
Police sat around 5:00 a.m., as a passing motorist reportedly saw a Chrysler Town and Country van in a ditch, off of the east edge of northbound US Rt. 13, just south of the I-495 northbound on-ramp in New Castle.
Apparently when the motorist stopped to assist, he found the man, later identified as a 32-year-old Wilmington man, slumped over in the passenger seat of the vehicle with obvious injuries.
According to authorities, he then found the 33-year-old Wilmington woman who was apparently driving the car. Police say she was also found to have suffered from obvious injuries.
After the man called 911, police say the woman was removed from the scene by EMS and transported to a local hospital where she has been admitted in stable condition.
The man in the car was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was removed from the scene by the Division of Forensic Science. They will reportedly conduct an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.
The victim’s name is being withheld pending the notification of his next of kin.
During their initial investigation, troopers say they also found a second vehicle as well as “other physical evidence” on northbound I-495 just north of the I-95 northbound split. Detectives say they are working to determine if the two scenes are related.
