Decatur Girls Lacrosse Dominate In Season Opener

The Stephen Decatur girls lacrosse team dominated in their season opener against Saints Peter and Paul, winning 16-3. The win improves the Seeahawks to 1-0, while the loss drops the Sabres to 0-1.
The Seahawks would jump out to a quick lead after getting goals from Payton VanKirk, Lexi VanKirk and Elle Margar. The lead would quickly grow and reach 8 after another goal from Payton made it 9-1. The Sabres continued to battle, and Megan Hickey would find the back of the net to make it 9-2. But that would be one of the only shots that would get by Seahawks keeper Jillian Petito who looked every part of the conference reigning Defensive Player of the Year. Payton would finish with 5 goals in the win.
Decatur returns to action Thursday when they travel to play at Kent Island, while Saints Peter and Paul returns to the field when they travel to play Gunston.
