Death penalty bill moves to senate floor

A measure to repeal of the death penalty is moving forward in Delaware. The bill passed the Senate Judiciary Committee Wednesday, meaning it will now go to the senate floor for a full vote.
If it passes there, it would move to the House. The legislation would remove capital punishment for those convicted of first-degree murder and replace that sentence with life in prison without the possibility of parole.
This bill would not directly affect the sentences of the 15 men currently on death row.
