Deadly force used by Delaware State Trooper “justified”

The Delaware State Trooper at the center of an officer involved shooting last year in Kent County will not face criminal charges.
According to the Delaware Department of Justice, Corporal Lloyd McCann, was justified in using deadly force against Dennis Hicks.
The investigation stems from a gun battle last June in Magnolia in which Hicks shot Corporal McCann in the hand and cheek after a short pursuit. McCann fired back, hitting Hicks in the upper body.
Both were taken to Kent General hospital where Hicks was pronounced dead. McCann was later released in good condition.
