Community bands together to support fire victims

Dozens of people crowded Station 7 Restaurant in Pittsville Sunday afternoon to support a local family who lost everything in a house fire on Thursday, February 26th.
Thankfully the Franklin family wasn’t home at the time of the blaze, but sadly their pets were. Two cats and a dog perished in the flames that caused about $150,000 dollars worth of damage.
Sunday folks at the restaurant held a bake sale and collected donations for the family. Fire victim Deborah Franklin says she couldn’t be more grateful for their help.
She goes on, “Words can’t express, it’s just been so wonderful. My heart. God bless them all. I’m just so overwhelmed.”
Wicomico County First Alert is accepting clothing and material donations for the family. If you would like more information on how to donate with them, click here to access their Facebook page.
For individuals who would like to make a monetary donation, an account has been set up at Farmer’s Bank for the family’s benefit.
The account is set up in the name Gary Bratten. All checks must be made out to the Franklin family specifically reading “for the benefit of Gary and Debbie Franklin.”
