Clippers Make Mid-Innings’ Run To Overcome Indians

The James M. Bennett High School baseball team remained undefeated on Tuesday afternoon, overcoming an eight-run deficit to Wicomico to take a 13-10 victory. The Clippers move to 3-0 for the season, while the Indians slip to 1-3.
It was a tough first inning for Bennett, giving up five runs including four off a grand slam by Caleb Welch. The runs would keep pumping out for the Indians until the third inning when the Clippers came to life. Trailing 8-1 at this point, a five-run inning put them right back into contention.
Although WiHi recorded another run in the top of the fifth, it only took one swing of the bat in the fifth for Bennett to give it the lead. Cade Rousseau turned on a 1-1 count and launched a grand slam over the left-field fence to give the Clippers the 10-9 lead, a lead it wouldn’t surrender.
Bennett heads to Stephen Decatur tomorrow for its next game, while WiHi heads to Cambridge on Thurdsay. Both games have first pitch set for 4 p.m.
