CIP Program Discussed at Board Meeting

The Wicomico County Council is still discussing the Capital Improvement Program and a huge topic of discussion is phase three of the old James M Bennett middle school, which had been slated for demolition to allow for athletic fields to be built in its place.

Some county executives say it would be a better plan to remodel the building and turn it into county offices. They say the property is too small, sitting at just eight acres, to play host to a stadium.

During Tuesday nights meeting, county executives did decide to set aside two million dollars for West Salisbury Elementary School.

Holloway tells us, they plan to keep the money in “the pipeline for state funding” in case any additional funding opportunities should arise.
