Badia Spices recalls ground cumin for undeclared peanuts

Home chefs, a local grocery store chain has removed a batch of Cajun seasoning from their shelves due to an undeclared allergen. Check your shelves!

Giant Food, LLC has announced that they have pulled Badia Spices, Inc.’s ground cumin from inventory, after peanuts were apparently left off of the ingredient label. Officials clarify that the spice is safe to eat for those without a peanut allergy, but could cause a reaction to those with a nut allergy or sensitivity.

The following product is included in this recall:
· Badia Ground Cumin, 2 oz., UPC 03384400007, lot number 116837 with a best by date of 7/2019
· Badia Ground Cumin, 7 oz., UPC 03384400002, lot number 117151 with a best by date of 7/2019
· Badia Ground Cumin, 16 oz., UPC 03384400516, lot number 116696 with a best by date of 7/2019

Giant says they haven’t received and reports of illness, but because allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts can be life-threatening, Officials are suggesting that customers throw away any unused portions. Customers can bring their purchase receipt back to Giant, for a full refund.
