After brutal winter, Maryland DNR eyes oyster season extension

After weeks of brutal winter weather and a frozen Chesapeake Bay, local watermen may get an extension of this year’s oyster season.
A spokeswoman for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources says they are looking at adding an extra two weeks to the season, which as of now is set to end March 31st. The extension would reportedly give watermen ten working days to recover several lost fishing days from the winter.
DNR officials say the last day for written comment is Wednesday. If you would like to submit written comment, email: fisheriespubliccomment.dnr@maryland.gov
