Worcester Tech Holds First Skills USA Competition

Hundreds of students gathered at Worcester Technical High School for the school’s  first ever Skills USA competition.

Skills USA started back in 1965 and serves as a professional organization where students can foster their vocational and industrial skills.

The competition at Worcester tech was made up of 99 different contests for students.

School officials say these contests are very helpful because it preps their students for the state and national Skills USA competitions.

Rick Stephens, the school’s Skills USA adviser says, “All the staff members are here on a Saturday so they’re donating their time. We probably have sixty or seventy judges donating their time for these kids. It’s great to come here and see the community back it.”

Last year Worcester Tech had four national Skills USA winners.
