Wilmington I-95 crash: alcohol could be a factor

Delaware State Police say they are currently investigating a single vehicle crash which has left a Newark man hospitalized. Police say the accident occurred early in the afternoon on Sunday.
Reportedly, the initial investigation has determined that Ian B. Anderson, 27, of Newark, DE, was operating a 1999 Nissan Altima and was traveling southbound on I-95 in Wilmington, in the area of Frawley Stadium. Police say it is unknown why Anderson lost control of his vehicle and swerved to the left, striking a concrete barrier. Police say the victim’s vehicle then overturned, landing on the roof and trapping Anderson inside until he could be freed by responding fire department personnel.
Police say Anderson was then transported to the Christiana Hospital Trauma Center where he is being treated for what first responders call serious but non-life threatening injuries.
State Police say the investigation into this crash is continuing and charges are expected. Troopers say alcohol is being considered as a factor in the crash. Police say traffic on southbound I-95 was detoured onto Martin Luther King Boulevard until the crash was investigated and cleared.
