Willards fire at Cropper Bros. lumber yard

Officials from Willards Volunteer Fire Company say a fire partially consumed a building on the property of Cropper Brothers Lumber Company Inc., around 7:45 Monday night.
According to reports, the building affected is away from the central part of the lumber yard, and fire fighters confirmed the blaze was under control within an hour.
First responders say they apparently had a difficult time getting fire trucks to the scene, as the building is on the far side of the lumber yard. Reports say muddy roads within the yard prevented fire engines from getting close to the blaze, so extra manpower was used to manually unravel hoses to extinguish the fire.
Officials from the Pittsville Fire Department say Maryland State Fire Marshals are on the scene trying to determine the cause of the fire. Authorities do not believe the fire is related to any suspicious activities. The building is reportedly used on a regular basis.
