WiHi Has Huge Fourth Quarter In Win Over Bennett
After all of the delays brought in this week by the snow, a huge showdown between the the Wicomico Warriors and the James Bennett Clippers took place at the home of the Bleacher Creatures on Saturday afternoon.
Despite missing one of their best players, Bennett put WiHi on the heels and played extremely well. Bennett was moving the ball around, attacking the basket, and knocking down big shots. WiHi’s shot were not falling and because of that, the Warriors changed things up – great coaching at its finest. Nelson Brown said after the game that Coach Butch Waller moved him inside because his shots were not going in – once they move was made, Brown was starting to find more success.
Torrey Brittingham was clearly frustrated on the court from missed shots, but he rallied and fought back in the most crucial point of the game. The Warriors success came from spreading out the Bennett defense, and finding players low and inside – Trevell Jones was the prime example and gave his team the ability to stay in the game against the Clippers.
The Clippers played a great game – Michael Jean Charles and Barry Gaines made big time plays throughout the game to keep their team on top. Tykee Young was dropping three’s like there was nothing to it, per usual.
The fourth quarter was dominant for WiHi as they would go on to win the game, 88-80.
