WiHi Comes From Behind To Take Conference Title
Senior Xavier Branyon-Sims hit two huge free throws with 10.7 seconds remaining to push Wi-Hi’s lead to 70-67. With time running down, Kent County’s Shemar Thomas would miss the potential game tying three pointer, as Wi-Hi captured their ninth Bayside conference title.
“Waller, is what was going thru my head, all he talks about is free throws, free throws, practice your shooting, and it worked for me tonight.” said Branyon-Sims.
Trailing throughout most of the game, the Indians relied on potential Bayside Player of the Year Torrey Brittingham. Brittingham had seven points in the first quarter, and would go into the half with 9. “They were picking me up full court (late in the game) so i was able to go by and find Lionel (Batson) who was finishing. Brittingham finished the game with a double-double, scoring 19 points and dropping 10 dimes. Jordan Brittingham scored 14 huge points for the Indians. “We came out weak, but finished the game strong.”said the junior forward.
