WCPS address fake Twitter account

Worcester County Public Schools are investigating after a fake Twitter profile purported as an official school account this week.

The account was reportedly set up sometime on Wednesday evening. One of the tweets claimed schools were closed on Thursday due to inclement weather, when they, in fact, were not.

That account was taken down within an hour after the tweet. Barbara Witherow, a school official tells us they are not sure who is behind the account but they are looking into the account’s followers.

The Worcester County Public School’s actual account was temporarily deactivated at 9:30 a.m. Friday;however, it is expected to be up and running again sometime next week.
